* either characteristic imaging appearance
* or joint disorder of at least 3 months' duration, with no constitutional symptoms such as fever, malaise, etc. and three or more of the following: 
* intermittent swelling
* crepitation
* stiffness/limitation of movement
* normal ESR, rheumatoid tests, and uric acid
* over 40 years of age
